Leon Edwards confirms staph infection rumors ahead of UFC London, suffered ‘no effects’ on cardio

Leon Edwards was battling staph infection during his UFC London training camp, but insists the problem has been dealt with ahead of his Sean Brady main event, scheduled for this Sat. (March 22, 2025) at O2 Arena in London, England.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted the elbow wound in recent training pics.

“I actually did have it, this was about six weeks ago,” Edwards said during the UFC London media day (watch the replay here). “Took antibiotics for it, it’s gone. I had no effects cardio-wise, I was fine. I don’t even know if it was staph, it was like a bite or something but yeah, that was six weeks ago, nothing affected. I’m good.”

There’s a lot of that going around these days.

This marks the first appearance for Edwards since coughing up his 170-pound strap to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 last summer in Manchester. A victory over Brady could put “Rocky” atop a short list of opponents in line to battle the winner of this fight.
