Appearing on Spotify’s “Countdown to” just ahead of the release of their joint album, “I Said I Love You First,” Gomez and her fiancé opened up about the early days of their relationship. The singer, somewhat unsure, claimed she and Blanco attended Swift’s party — their first as a couple — after some award, revealing she was “mortified” for arriving early to the gathering.

Selena Gomez recalled how attending Taylor Swift’s party after an awards show with Benny Blanco left her “mortified.” The couple appeared on Spotify’s “Countdown to” on Wednesday just before their album’s release on March 21, where they shared details about their relationship’s early days while driving around town in Los Angeles in a stunning convertible.
At one point, Blanco asked the Rare Beauty founder, “What was the first party we ever went to?” Maintaining that she wasn’t entirely sure, Gomez answered, “I don’t know if this was the first, but it was actually really funny.” She then remembered attending Swift’s party after an awards show. “I don’t know, it was kind of cute,” said the actor-singer before mentioning how “mortified” she was because she and her now-fiancé were early to the gathering. “Apparently, cool people don’t show up to parties on time,” she noted.
But, according to Benny Blanco, Taylor Swift’s party wasn’t the only one at which he and Selena Gomez arrived before time. “We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you,” he told the Disney alum, teasing her, “You like to show up when my mother shows up to a party.” However, what Blanco revealed next turned out to be the conversation’s turning point. He disclosed that when they attended Swift’s party together, nobody knew they were a couple.
“I thought you were gonna talk about the fact that nobody knew we were dating and we were hiding the fact that we were dating,” said the record producer. He further stated that to keep their romance a secret, the two avoided touching or looking at each other, leaving Gomez gushing.
Their first-ever joint album, “I Said I Love You First,” comes out this Friday.
