A new spinoff for The Big Bang Theory is currently in the works at Warner Bros, and there are already exciting details about Stuart Fails To Save The Universe. As Young Sheldon proved, shows like The Big Bang Theory are essentially the perfect formula for spinoff projects, with their wide cast of characters that audiences will always want to know more about, whether that’s in the future or the past. Although it’s unclear who the protagonist of this new spinoff is going to be, there are countless options from the original show that could be worthy candidates.
Young Sheldon was the first spinoff in the Big Bang Theory universe, and was a huge success both critically and commercially. The show follows a younger version of The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon Cooper as he navigates teenage life and learns to find his place in a world that’s often unwilling to accept him. Despite displaying a different tone from the original sitcom, the show was a ratings juggernaut and added something new by enriching the history of the title character. While details are slim, it’s likely that Stuart Fails To Save The Universe will aim to repeat that formula.

An Official Title For The Spinoff Is Announced
Not only does the name finally give the series a sense of identity, but it also confirms that Stuart Bloom is the main character.
After many months of simply being known as The Big Bang Theory spinoff, a full title for the new series has finally been announced. The in-development spinoff is now known as Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, though it has still not received a series order. Not only does the name finally give the series a sense of identity, but it also confirms that Stuart Bloom is the main character. This is a unique turn of events considering Kevin Sussman’s history with TBBT, and the actor was originally slated to play one of the main characters before being recast.
Stuart Fails To Save The Universe Is In Development
The Spinoff Still Hasn’t Secured A Green Light Yet
with TBBT co-creator Bill Prady and writer Zak Penn onboard, the development has taken another big step toward becoming reality.
The existence of another Big Bang Theory spinoff was officially announced on April 12, 2023, just as Young Sheldon was approaching the end of its sixth season (via Screen Rant). Almost nothing was given away regarding the show’s story or cast, but the most important information was that Chuck Lorre would be returning to oversee the project. However, Lorre walked back the previous announcement in November 2023, when he made it clear that no plan was in the works. How the misinformation was spread is unclear, but the fate of the Big Bang Theory spinoff was unclear at that point.
Lorre would again contradict himself when, in July 2024, he mentioned that the spinoff of The Big Bang Theory was still in the earliest stages of development. Eventually, cast members began signing on for the spinoff in October 2024, but details still remain scant. Even with the project being slowly developed, there’s no guarantee that it will ever actually get green-lit. However, with TBBT co-creator Bill Prady and writer Zak Penn onboard, the development has taken another big step toward becoming reality.

This is actually the perfect framework for a sitcom, and it could follow Stuart as he tries to keep his business afloat while also dealing with his own personal life. His relationship with Denise is another source of intrigue, and the duo could face the trials and tribulations of life together.
