The profound measures affected everybody’s day-to-day lives with schools closed, working from home becoming a reality and families separated from their loved ones while frontline workers kept the country running.

The lockdown has had a long-lasting impact on society, including the way people feel, work and socialise.
A public inquiry is ongoing into how the UK approached COVID-19. It is examining decisions to limit the spread of the virus and how these were communicated.
We want you to share your thoughts on how the Government handled the pandemic and the different measures introduced to keep the country safe during this extraordinary period in history.
Additionally, we want to know how you feel about the future and Britain’s preparedness to tackle another pandemic.
In response to the first set of recommendations made by the Covid-19 Inquiry, a UK-wide pandemic preparedness test is planned for autumn this year.
Labour Minister Pat McFadden said: “We must learn lessons from the Covid pandemic, as we cannot afford to make the same mistakes again. But we will plan in a way that recognises the next crisis may not be the same as the last.”
