Two UFC fighters were pinched during an illegal betting sting, now the state is ready to hand down its punishment

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters, Darrick Minner and Jeff Molina, have been suspended from competition for more than two years following the James Krause betting scandal that rocked the combat sports community back in late 2022.

Minner suffered an injury ahead of his UFC Vegas 64 bout against Nuerdanbieke Shayilan, information that Krause allegedly leaked to his gambling network. That prompted a dramatic tilt in betting lines and caught the attention of industry watchdog U.S. Integrity.

Minner lost by way of technical knockout in just 67 seconds.

Molina reportedly recruited members for a VIP betting ring led by Krause and was “involved in some substantial way,” according to Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). “El Jefe” also trained with Krause and Minner at the since-revamped Glory MMA & Fitness facility.

All three fighters were subsequently cut from UFC.

Minner, 34, and Molina, 27, were recently added to the upcoming NSAC meeting on March 25 in Las Vegas for a “hearing on disciplinary complaint, or in the alternative, hearing on proposed adjudication agreement,” according to a report from MMA Fighting.

The scandal forced UFC to completely overhaul its Code of Conduct.

Both combatants are expected to receive sanctions on Tuesday, which could include fines and suspensions (or some combination of the two). Krause, who claims to be a starving “hostage” of NSAC, is not listed for next week’s meeting but remains suspended indefinitely.
