Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn will make their “Grand Arrivals” today ahead of their Sat. night (April 26) grudge match from inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. This weekend’s pay-per-view (PPV) card streams LIVE on DAZN (as well as Sky Sports in the UK).
Eubank Jr. and Benn will finish what their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, started back in the early nineties. That epic rivalry began with a knockout win for Eubank Sr. in 1990 (Birmingham) and ended with a split draw in 1993 (Manchester), with both contests serving as WBO title fights.
“There’s no going back now,” Eubank Jr. told Sky Sports. “Everyday is a grind, everyday is a challenge to push yourself, to rest properly, to refuel, to rehydrate. Everything is scheduled, it’s strict, it’s regimented. That’s what you have to do to prepare to go to war. The real weight cut doesn’t come until the week of the fight for most fighters. It is tough, I’m not going to lie. It’s not fun, it’s not a nice part of the sport having to boil yourself down to a certain weight. Adding in the fact that I can now not rehydrate fully, I can’t eat and drink as much as I want after the weigh in, adds another element of discomfort and hardship to what I’m going through.”
Eubank Jr. vs. Benn will be contested at 160 pounds with a 10-pound rehydration clause.
