Former Bellator MMA women’s Flyweight champion, Liz Carmouche, punched her way to the semifinals of the PFL 2025 World Tournament last night (Fri., April 11, 2025) in devastating fashion, and she barely broke a sweat doing it.
Coming into the event, Carmouche had a bitter taste in her mouth after her nine-fight win streak went up in smoke thanks to Taila Santos, who defeated her at PFL 7 in Aug. 2024. But the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title contender returned to her winning ways by securing a first-round technical knockout (TKO) win over Ilara Joanne.
Now, “Girl-rilla” will face off against Elora Dana — who submitted Diana Avsaragova in the first fight of the night — in the semifinals of the world tournament for the right to fight for $500,000 in the finals.
In the other quarterfinal fight of the night, Ekaterina Shakalova, pulled of one of the biggest upsets of the year by submitting former Bellator MMA 125-pound champion, Juliana Velasquez, in the very first round (see it again here).
