Super prospect Bo Nickal arrives in Iowa 37 pounds heavy, concerned UFC Des Moines fans react – ‘He’s huge!’

Bo Knows! (he faces a massive weight cut)

That’s because the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight phenom Bo Nickal arrived at UFC Des Moines fight week a staggering 37 pounds over the division’s 186-pound limit.

Indeed, today (Tues., April 29, 2025) Nickal shared a video showing a scale reading of 222 lbs, just three days before he must weigh in at 186 lbs for Friday’s early morning weigh-ins.

“Poatan” knows a thing or two about big fight week weight cuts.

“Gonna be long week,” Nickal wrote.

Watch the video below:

Shedding 37 pounds before a fight sounds daunting, but as a lifelong wrestler, Nickal is likely accustomed to extreme weight cuts, so it may not hinder him significantly.

There are some skeptical fans who pointed out a few things:

Notice he’s not in the picture when it shows the number

He’s wearing full clothes, he’s probably closer to 212, still he’s huge

The camera cuts cuts before it shows the weight, he definitely not 220

The three-time NCAA Division I national champion from Penn State will likely address his weight during UFC Des Moines media day tomorrow, clarifying whether he’s truly 37 pounds over.

Regardless, Nickal faces former ONE Championship two-division champion Reinier de Ridder in the co-main event of UFC Des Moines inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
