Season 2 of The Last of Us has officially kicked off — and with a bang, as expected. The usual principal players made their epic return for the first episode, including Emmy-nominated stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. But Season 2 has already introduced new characters as well. By the end of episode 201, we’ve already met Cat, who has ties to Ellie. Cat is played by rising star Noah Lamanna (Dream Scenario), and MovieWeb recently caught up with them to learn more about how the second installment of HBO’s beloved post-apocalyptic series begins.
“201 starts us off with a real sort of kick-jump into the action, a lot of violence, a lot of intrigue, as the show does so well,” Lamanna told us. “It leaves you a little hungry for… a little bit of context into knowing a bit more about Cat’s character and about what their relationship was and, you know, why it’s kind of uncomfortable now, and where that’s going to go. So I think it leaves you with some interesting questions.”

Five years after Salt Lake City, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) have a strained relationship in Jackson.
With many questions swirling indeed, Lamanna also teased what’s to come with the rest of the highly anticipated second season:
“There’s a lot that I’m excited to see. Everything is obviously very lock-and-key with this show, and so there’s actually so much that I don’t know. So I’m really excited to just watch the second season as a viewer myself, sort of with the added bonus of now, you know, seeing all my friends doing amazing work on the show, also. But I think just the scale of this season, you know — if you were impressed by the scale of the first season, prepare to be doubly impressed by the scale of this season. It’s pretty incredible.”
Working with Bella Ramsey
Given what we’ve seen in the first episode of Season 2, Lamanna’s character Cat has strong ties to Ellie, and they have some standout moments together on screen. Lamanna shared with us what it was like working with the Game of Thrones actor and the rest of The Last of Us cast as well. “Bella is so lovely, so grounded, so down to Earth. For someone who has had such massive success at such a young age, I’m not sure how they do it, but they’re very, very cool and chill and welcoming,” said Lamanna. “The whole cast was incredibly welcoming and supportive. It was just like a really positive working environment.”
It’s no wonder the series has already been renewed for a third installment. In the meantime, season 2 of The Last of Us is now streaming on Max, with new episodes airing every Sunday on HBO. Watch it through the link below:
