2025 IBJJF World Championships, Day 1-4: BJJ results, live stream, video highlights

The biggest Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) gi event of the year is upon us, with the 2025 IBJJF World Championships happening at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California from May 29 to June 1, 2025.

The 2025 IBJJF Worlds or “Mundials” will stream LIVE on FloGrappling, starting at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, and will continue until the event concludes on Sunday. A free live stream of the earlier matches will possibly be on YouTube, which will be embedded below once it’s available.

2025 IBJJF Worlds Preview: 13 returning champions, 5 vying for Grand Slam

At the 2025 Mundials or IBJJF Worlds, there will be 13 returning champions from 2024 that are out to defend their gi world title. This also means there will be at least five new BJJ world champions to be crowned following this event.

The returning champions include Bebeto Oliveira, Diego “Pato” Oliveira, Meyram Alves, Gustavo Batista, Adam Wardzinski, Seif Houmine, Anderson Munis, Erich Munis, Mayssa Bastos, Luiza Monteiro, Thamara Ferreira, Tamiris Silva and Gabi Pessanha.

After winning the three other major IBJJF titles earlier this year (the IBJJF Euros, the IBJJF Pans and the IBJJF Brasileiros), there are also five BJJ stars that could not only win a world title, but also complete a “Grand Slam” by taking gold at the final major event. Those vying for that rare distinction are Diego Pato, Tainan Dalpra, Adam Wardzinski, Janaina Lebre and Gabi Pessanha.

Pessanha’s legendary winning streak ended after an upset at the IBJJF Brasileiros, but winning gold at the absolute division at that event still lets her qualify and have a chance for an IBJJF Grand Slam title here.

Outside of those world champions, there are also several brackets that are stacked with talent. Some of the notable professionals looking to get a BJJ world title include two-time ADCC world champ Diogo Reis, CJI Wild Card pick Fabricio Andrey, ADCC trials winner Elijah Dorsey, and Jansen Gomes. Several no gi world champs like Cole Abate, Roberto Jimenez, Rolando Junior and Andy Murasaki will also be competing.

BJJ legend Joao Mendes, who has been winning major tournaments at Master 1 (age 30 and up), will also be competing at the adult division for the Mundials.

Thursday and Friday will feature the colored belts. Adult black belt divisions will start on Saturday, with the semis and final rounds happening on Sunday.
