Benoit Saint Denis had a chance to save UFC 315 PPV card but ‘coward’ instead ‘turned down the fight’

Mateusz Gamrot is the most unpopular fighter at 155 pounds, Ludovit Klein notwithstanding.

Not long after losing the UFC Abu Dhabi main event against this “angry” contender, the Polish “Gamer” was once again left high and dry by a Top 10 opponent. In this case, Gamrot was tapped to replace an injured Joel Alvarez for the UFC 315 main card.

Benoit Saint Denis was not interested.

“BSD turned down the fight next week, what’s wrong with you guys?” Gamrot wrote on Twitter. “Grow some balls, cowards!”

Gamrot (24-3, 1 NC) is ranked six spots above Saint Denis in the official lightweight rankings and securing a victory this Sat. night (May 10, 2025) in Montreal would have been the quickest way for “God of War” to get back into the 155-pound title hunt.

“Gamer” is looking to rebound from his split decision loss to Dan Hooker at UFC 305 last August. As for Saint Denis (13-3, 1 NC), he’s coming off back-to-back defeats to Dustin Poirier and Renato Carneiro, which both came by way of knockout/technical knockout.
