Former UFC title challenger who jumped to PFL suspended for anti-doping violation

Taila Santos “wasn’t happy” fighting for UFC, so she jumped to PFL in early 2024.

She was “bummed out” there, as well.

Unfortunately for the 31 year-old Brazilian, her career is going from bad to worse. Just a few months after getting smoked by Dakota Ditcheva, Santos was forced to withdraw from PFL’s flyweight tournament.

So what happened?

“Santos tested positive for oxandrolone and its metabolites and tested positive for clenbuterol as the result of an out-of-competition sample collected on March 21, 2025,” USADA wrote on its website. “The period of ineligibility for the use of a prohibited substance is six months. Santos’ six-month period of ineligibility began on March 21, 2025, the date her positive sample was collected. As a result of her positive test, Santos was also removed from the card for the PFL World Tournament event on April 11, 2025.”

Oxandrolone and clenbuterol are listed in the class of anabolic agents.

Santos (22-4) is perhaps best known for her performance against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 275 back in June 2022. The Brazilian dropped a hotly-contested split decision, though her positive drug test may raise some questions about her previous success in UFC.

The Brazilian will be eligible to return to PFL on Sept. 21.
