Michael Chandler is stirring the pot.
The UFC lightweight veteran recently rattled off back-to-back social media posts that read “Conor!!!” and “1/24/26” but a majority of UFC fans missed it because the reveal was on Threads, the Twitter knockoff for UFC employees and people who detest Elon Musk.
So what the hell does it mean?
Only Chandler knows for sure, but there’s no question he’s teasing a potential Conor McGregor fight, yet again, after losing the chance to battle his fellow TUF 31 coach last June. Whether or not anyone cares about either combatant by 2026 remains to be seen.
The current trajectory has “Notorious” irrelevant by 50 and dead by 57.
McGregor, who turns 37 in July, has not competed since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier back in summer 2021. In the years that followed, he went to war with USADA, lost a highly-publicized civil suit, and broke his pinky toe while training for his UFC comeback.
As for the 39 year-old Chandler, he finally got tired of waiting for the McGregor fight and returned to action in late 2024, where he was summarily thumped by Charles Oliveira (UFC 309) and Paddy Pimblett (UFC 314) in back-to-back pay-per-view (PPV) fights.
Not surprisingly, no one outside of Chandler (including McGregor) has commented on his Threads.
