Turki Alalshikh announces Dana White will promote first TKO boxing mega event Alvarez vs. Crawford

TKO Boxing’s debut event is set, and it’s a blockbuster.

Following a very lackluster boxing weekend, Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), announced on social media that a mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will headline TKO Boxing’s first event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC CEO Dana White will co-promote the event with Alalshikh.

“We will deliver the fight of the century with Riyadh Season on Sept. 12 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium,” Alalshikh wrote. “The legend Canelo defends his Ring Magazine title vs. the great Terence Crawford. The TV platform will be announced soon with a big surprise. My brother Dana White will promote this first TKO boxing event with me. It will be something crazy.”

In March, White, TKO Group Holdings, Inc., and Alalshikh signed a deal to launch a new boxing league, though details were scarce beyond White’s vow to break boxing down, “build it from the ground up.”

They did confirm two super-fights annually, and Alvarez vs. Crawford, a clash of pound-for-pound titans, just makes sense for the first one.

Will White bring the same energy as he did for the Floyd MayweatherConor McGregor press tour?

Time will tell.
