Jack Della Maddalena defends fighter pay following ‘Dark Side of UFC’ hit piece — ‘If you don’t like the contract, don’t sign it’

Jack Della Maddalena is proud to be a UFC fighter.

In fact, the newly-crowned welterweight champion is defending the world’s preeminent mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion following a recent hit piece titled “Dark Side of UFC,” the latest documentary from the Four Corners crew in Australia.

The video claims UFC fighters can be “locked into restrictive contracts” and “end up broke or broken after years in the cage” because Dana White and Co. “kept wages low” with “limited competition” and “left fighters with few options.”

The judge in this game-changing lawsuit would seem to agree.

“I love this company and everything it stands for,” Della Maddalena wrote on Instagram. “It has brang me joy since I was 12. If you don’t like the contract don’t sign it. If the bottom guys get paid as much as the top guys, there would be no incentive to get to the top.”

Maddalena was featured prominently in the “Dark Side of UFC” video.

The 28 year-old Aussie cut his teeth on Dana White’s “Contender Series” back in late 2021, then went on to capture eight straight wins inside the Octagon. That includes his title-winning performance over Belal Muhammad at UFC 315 last month in Montreal.

The same event that saw the cash-strapped Maddalena fundraising for travel expenses.

We’ll see what the second round of UFC lawsuits has to say about that.
