Midnight Mania! Alex Pereira announces he’s back in fight camp: ‘I always answer the UFC’s calls’

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Let’s start things off by looking back at the three biggest stories from earlier today:

  1. Malcolm Wellmaker is coming in at a record-setting -2500 betting favorite for his fight with Kris Moutinho this weekend at UFC Atlanta. Those are the biggest odds in UFC history, which now puts Wellmaker in the hot seat in just his second UFC appearance.
  2. UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili was mobbed by fans upon his return to Georgia. If fellow Georgian fighter, Ilia Topuria, is able to win UFC gold yet again at UFC 317 later this month then the promotion will have to try very hard to host an event in the Georgia.
  3. Kamaru Usman has mapped out a path to a middleweight showdown with current UFC champion Dricus du Plessis. It all starts with a victory over Joaquin Buckley this weekend at UFC Atlanta, but it will be Usman’s first trip to the cage since October 2023. The pressure is on.
