Former UFC heavyweight champions Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir fought twice under the UFC banner, with Mir winning by submission at UFC 81 and Lesnar prevailing by way of technical knockout at UFC 100. There was talk of a potential rubber match a few years later; however, the bout never materialized and the “old” rivals remain tied at one apiece.
Mir’s daughter Bella has a solution that involves Lesnar’s daughter Mya.
“It’s funny you say that about Mya Lesnar, the amount of people that have asked me if I want to fight her and do the Brock Lesnar-Frank Mir trilogy but in daughter form,” Mir told MMA Fighting. “I know Dana [White] would 100 percent approve of that if Mya was fighting. So if Mya Lesnar, if you’re ever hearing this, you should train and we could just have a little fight. Because that would be awesome. Who wouldn’t want to see that?”
Bella is an accomplished grappler while Mya has excelled in collegiate sports.
“I’m like Mya, just train for a year,” Mir continued. “She’s athletic. She’ll get it down. She trains for a year? That would be insane. Honestly. That actually would be crazy. Maybe the universe, it knew her and I were going to finish that trilogy fight so they didn’t have our dads finish it. That would be awesome. I think I would be more hyped for that than anyone watching honestly.”
They would have to stage the fight in a place where Brock is not currently banned.
In addition, the promotion might need to implement a weight class exception, since the highest category that currently exists for female fighters is bantamweight (135 pounds). Maybe in the time it takes Mya to train for her fighting debut, UFC can work on expanding its women’s roster.
Just no “bum fights,” please.
