Machine! Movsar Evloev does 1500 pushups in an hour during training

Movsar Evloev has gained a reputation for beating his opponents with unwavering cardio, and that comes from some impressive feats he’s worked into his weekly training regiment.

Recently, an old clip of Evloev from four years ago resurfaced showing the future UFC featherweight contender discussing his push-up routine, which involves 1500 push-ups at a fast clip.

“I do it in exactly one hour, it’s part of my weekly training,” he told Ushatayka. “The method comes from [boxer] Kostya Tszyu — it originally required 1,000 push-ups in one session. But I’ve done it so often, I pushed it to 1500.”

“The only breaks I get are when I’m jumping rope,” he added. “One hour, 1500 push-ups, and a ton of time on the rope.”

No one can deny Evloev’s commitment to his strength and conditioning — it’s carried him to the top of the 145 pound division with nine wins in a row. Unfortunately, he’s having a tough time clinching a title shot … probably because all nine of those wins came via decision. That’s led the UFC to consider other flashier but less worthy options for current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

So now, instead of a title shot, Evloev is set to welcome former Bellator standout Aaron Pico to the UFC in Abu Dhabi on July 26th. Will a win in the co-main event be enough to lock up a shot for the Russian fighter? No promises have been made, but a finish would certainly help Evloev’s case.
