UFC Nashville results: Biggest winners, loser from ‘Lewis vs. Teixeira’ last night

UFC Nashville went down last night (Sat., July 12, 2025) inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., featuring a Heavyweight main event that saw Derrick Lewis earn an impressive knockout win over Tallison Teixeira in less than one chaotic minute (see it again here). In the co-main event, Gabriel Bonfim escaped Nashville with a split-decision win over Stephen Thompson (recap).

Biggest Winner: Derrick Lewis

Lewis earned his sixteenth knockout with an explosive win over rising contender, Tallison Teixeira, in just 35 seconds. That is now two straight knockout wins for “Black Beast,” who is now showing interest in a title fight. For now, the hard-hitting big man can enjoy his wife (his words, not mine) and his first back-to-back win streak (both knockouts) in nearly five years. Lewis seems to have found a new lease on his combat life and looks better than ever.

Runner Up: Steve Garcia

Garcia has quietly won six straight fights inside the Octagon — seven of nine overall — after defeating Calvin Kattar via a dominant unanimous decision win over the longtime veteran. What made his win a bit more impressive is that he proved he could go a full 15 minutes with an intense pace and pull it off after earning his last nine wins via KO/TKO, five in the very first round. Still, Garcia never gave up looking for the finish, but he showed that he can go a full 15 minutes and win. He has won 11 of his last 13 fights, so he is inching closer to a Top 15 rankings.

Biggest Loser: Tallison Teixeira, Calvin Kattar

Let’s start with Kattar here, who has now lost five straight fights after coming up short against Steve Garcia. Kattar hasn’t won since 2022, and now faces getting a pink slip in the coming weeks after his horrid losing streak. As for Teixeira, he quickly found out that there are indeed levels to this fight game. It probably was too soon for him to face someone like Lewis in just his second UFC fight based on the outcome, and it will be a tougher pill to swallow since he felt his first-ever defeat was a premature stoppage. Nevertheless, the rising star will now have to go back from scratch and perhaps learn to know when to go full speed ahead and when to take your time when you have a monster like Lewis standing in front of you.
