Burn!
Hamzah Sheeraz scored the biggest win of his career last night (Sat., July 13, 2025) when he knocked out Edgar Berlanga in the fifth round, after dropping him three times from inside Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York City (watch highlights).
Leading up to the Ring III main event, Berlanga tried to steal the spotlight by targeting Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya, who co-promoted the card.
Berlanga tried to steal the spotlight by targeting Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya, who co-promoted the card. At the final press conference, Berlanga hurled a wig (a savage nod to De La Hoya’s infamous leaked photos), women’s lingerie, and a wad of cash at the boxing legend, branding him a “stripper.”
Big mistake. Berlanga’s antics blew up in his face when Sheeraz left him staring at the canvas, and just an hour later, De La Hoya released a video on social media of himself wearing that exact wig, mocking Berlanga, while on a private jet with a bottle of champagne.
“Oh my God, hehehe. Sheeraz, congratulations,” De La Hoya said. “Bumlanga, oh my God, you got knocked out! Oh, something Canelo Alveroids couldn’t do.”
Obviously, Canelo Alvarez caught a random stray in that savage clapback as De La Hoya referenced Canelo’s inability to stop Berlanga when they fought last year during Mexican Independence Day weekend.
Berlanga has now lost two of his last three fights.
