Chethanx Drops Philosophical Musings On Movement And Rest

Instagram/@chethanx

The latest Instagram post by Chethanx no doubt pulled heavy thoughts on questions of existence. “If they say to you: Who are you?, say: We are His children and we are the elect of the Living Father. If they ask you: What is the evidence of your Father in you?, say to them: It is movement and rest,” one of the sayings attributed to Yeshua, Aramaic for Jesus.

But it was really the monologue in the trailing video that sparked huge debates. Chethanx asks whether there could be stillness within motion, giving examples of rivers and electrical currents-and then plays the famous children’s song about rowing boats. “Are you swimming upstream like a fucking salmon?” he says at one point, with the ease of the profound mingled with the profane.

Going down the rabbit hole, some commenters contributed to the philosophical discussion. The message resonated instantly with a few. One said, “I am say with certainty I am flowing with the current,” another said, “Lullabies for a rattled/fried brain.” The spiritual angle proved appealing, too: “My guy has been locked in, don’t sleep!” and “Life is but a dream..”

Of course, it was not all enthusiast praise for Chethanx. Another sarcastic user summed the whole thing with, “This mf needed public schools;” a second ran away with a vulgar joke about his father. Almost anytime, in part of the discussion, there’s this one-or a few-jerks that feel compelled to turn a philosophical discussion into an exchange of insults. Typical!

The beautiful thinkers continued: One sparked an image of a deep meditative scene with “3 baby elephants” skating, explaining that people interpret spiritual messages through life. The other proposed that this same piece of wisdom needs to be delivered a second time, but this time in Jamaican Patois.

What makes for the enchantment of Chethanx style is the everlasting shining intermix of ancient scripture with a very casual stream-of-consciousness discourse. The video runs from electrical currents to salmon to nursery rhymes, and through that strange flow, it can go either way: it either makes perfect sense or none at all, depending on who is looking at it. Considering the level of engagement, apparently, many found some sort of meaning in this mess of chaos.

The post basically asks whether you fight the currents of life or flow with them. Quite deep conversations for social media reality, but the mixture of real sarcastic feedback is proof of those existential topics still really speak to people. So be they merrily merrily or fucking salmon, Chethanx has gotten people engaged in something heavier than your usual Instagram fluff. That in itself deserves an applause in today’s economy.
