The foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland are meeting at the White House today after President Donald Trump once again reiterated his desire for the United States to control Greenland, the world’s largest island. In a post on Truth Social earlier today, Trump said that anything short of Greenland being “in the hands” of the US was “unacceptable,” adding that NATO would become “more effective” if the island were under American control. His remarks came just hours before the Danish and Greenlandic ministers arrived in Washington for urgent talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, as Denmark simultaneously announced from Copenhagen that it would strengthen its military presence in Greenland with immediate effect. France24 International Affairs Editor Angela Diffley tells us more.
