Mark Wahlberg Details ‘Hardest’ Part About Gaining Weight

Mark Wahlberg has opened up about the most challenging part of gaining weight for a new role. The actor is known for his rigorous workout regimen and healthy lifestyle. He recently got candid about undergoing such a drastic physical transformation, detailing the hurdles that come with it.

Mark Wahlberg talks about gaining weight

During his February 18 appearance on The View, Mark Wahlberg opened up about the challenges of putting on weight. The actor detailed his approach to achieving the physical transformation and making necessary changes to his daily routine.

“I’m actually in the middle of making, or preparing to make, a movie right now where I have to put on weight. I’m eating everything and anything in sight,” Wahlberg shared. The actor said that putting on weight is “fun for about a week,” when asked what the “hardest” part of the process is.

Wahlberg continued detailing the challenges of breaking a healthy diet too often. After some weeks of having calorie-heavy foods, the actor noticed, “My feet are swollen when I wake up… My hands are swollen.”

This isn’t the first time that Wahlberg had to gain weight for a role. He previously achieved a heavier physique for the 2022 film Father Stu. He recalled that the process was “really difficult” and “not healthy.”

“I vowed the last time I did it, about a year ago, that I wasn’t going to do it again… And here I am,” the Ted star continued. He added, “But it’s kind of what the part requires, and so, I got to get through.”

When host Joy Behar asked about how he later lost the weight he gained, Wahlberg said that it is not a challenge for him. He explained, “For what it’s worth, I don’t have a hard time losing it, even with me, with fasting and exercise. But putting it on is just hard. You don’t want to eat when you already are full.” He added, “And I started to enjoy the things I hadn’t enjoyed in a while when I realized they kind of make you feel bad, ultimately, at the end of the day.”
