Ah, rumors! Not just a brilliant album by Fleetwood Mac, rumors are rife in the gaming world too. When it comes to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, fans are unsure whether to believe the latest nugget of information shared on Reddit about Assassin’s Creed Hexe. If true, it’s possible we might be seeing an old fan favorite character returning to the series. The most famous Italian character in gaming beside a certain plumber in dungarees.
Thanks to the ever reliable Tom Henderson on the Insider Gaming podcast, we’ve learned some of the early plans for Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Again, not officially confirmed but Tom, who is an industry insider, shared some new interesting details about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe. The most jaw-dropping of which might be the return of the beloved Ezio Auditore.
Is Ezio Returning To Assassin’s Creed?
Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted
Although not officially confirmed, Tom has let slip that Ezio will, in fact, make an appearance in Assassin’s Creed Hexe. His role within the narrative will be to guide and teach our protagonist the ways of the Assassin’s Guild. Perhaps refining their skills or teaching us exciting new gameplay mechanics while imparting some wisdom. Seeing fan favorite Ezio making a return to the franchise is certainly a tantalizing prospect.
But is it true? As for the timeline, most expected that Ezio’s death in 1524 would have occurred long before the start of Assassin’s Creed Hexe. The most famous witch trials during the Roman Holy Empire took place from 1550 onward. However, they did start well before that date, so Ezio showing up in the game is very possible. No need for a Jedi ghost version of Ezio then!
Assassin’s Creed Hexe Is Coming… Eventually
Holiday 2027 Expectation
With information thin on the ground, Tom also mentioned that the game’s developers have an expected release date some time during the holiday period of 2027. No open world RPG to rival GTA 6 for us Ezio fans any time soon then. We’ll just have to content ourselves with the slivers of information we get until Ubisoft decide to share more concrete game facts.
According to Tom, combat is getting an overhaul and the main character you play will be more acrobatic than previous protagonists. In fact, a contortionist was used for the motion capture, which is very interesting. Also, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is now the major focus of Ubisoft’s Montreal team, so it would seem to be full steam ahead. With the release date being further than we thought, here’s hoping we learn plenty more about the game in the coming months.
