The Alien franchise is widely considered one of the biggest and most enduring sci-fi horror franchises of all time. Ridley Scott‘s 1979 masterpiece served as the launchpad for the space saga, chronicling humanity’s deadly encounters with the Xenomorph species. The original film revolutionized the genre by blending high-concept sci-fi with visceral horror, and its success led to multiple sequels, prequels, crossovers, and offshoots across various media. Now, nearly 50 years later, the franchise is in the midst of another major expansion, with an exciting new sequel on the way. The first teaser for the long-awaited follow-up unexpectedly hatched out online this week, offering an intriguing glimpse of what’s to come.
Alien‘s current growth phase is anchored by the confirmation of Alien: Isolation 2. The project was confirmed to be in development in late 2024, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the original video game. A cryptic video titled “False Sense of Security” was released by Sega and Creative Assembly on Alien Day (4/26 – which is a nod to LV-426, the moon where humans first encounter the Xenomorphs in the Alien franchise), providing the first major update on the sequel to the 2014 survival game since it was first announced.
