This weekend saw more mayhem on the streets of LA, as mob rule has taken over places that were once considered safe.
A brawl broke out in West Hollywood overnight Saturday into Sunday, spilling onto Santa Monica Boulevard, with one person even being dragged into traffic.
The massive melée took place in an area once thought to be safe for revelers and ravers to roam between restaurants and dance clubs until the wee hours of the morning.
No longer, apparently.
That same night, four people were injured after shots were fired at yet another “street takeover” — this time in Rosemead.
LA County deputies arrived on the scene at about 2 a.m., but all of the vehicles involved had already left. Police made no arrests.
It was just the latest “takeover” that ended in violence and injury — and once again, it appears that there will be little or no accountability for the perpetrators.
Where is Mayor Karen Bass? Where is the City Council? Where is the Board of Supervisors?
How can it be that large groups of people know where to show up, and when, to create chaos — and law enforcement has no idea, and no way to track these mobs?
Crime is down overall — as in many other cities nationwide — but that is not because of any commitment on the part of local leaders to stopping it.
It’s largely because the Trump administration has been cracking down on crime — and removing gangsters who are illegally in the country.
We don’t see that kind of leadership from local leaders.
With the exception of LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, who was elected with a mandate to get tough on crime after four years of George Soros-style criminal justice “reform” by his predecessor, few officials seem to care about law and order.
This is a crucial election year, and some candidates for local office have very poor records on crime — including the slate running as “democratic socialists,” many of whom still think that the Black Lives Matter movement was a smashing success, and that “defund the police” remains a good idea.
Anyone who wants to be re-elected, or who asks for your vote, needs to explain how he or she will take back the streets of our city from the mobs who think they can do whatever they please.
We have the World Cup coming, and the Olympics. Enough already. Enforce the law.
