An iconic multi-billion-dollar franchise is getting its first-ever LEGO set at the perfect time.

In time for the franchise’s 25th anniversary, Shrek is officially getting its first-ever LEGO set. The company is releasing two different sets, one intended for adult fans aged 18 and up that has a brick-built Shrek and Donkey, as well as a Puss in Boots minifigure, that are posable and attached to a base designed after the Mike Myers-voiced character’s swamp, including the “Beware Ogre!” sign from the original film, sunflowers, an onion and other Easter eggs said to be hidden inside Shrek’s gut. The set will stand over 9.5 inches tall, 8.5 inches wide and 6 inches deep, comprised of 1,403 bricks.

The second set is part of the LEGO BrickHeadz collection, known for their distinctive square-headed design, and for ages 10 and up, in which one can build either Shrek, Donkey or Gingy. The sets will also come with very extensive details for fans of the franchise to remark about, including the titular character’s iconic ears, Donkey’s cheeky smile and Gingy’s icing buttons. The set, which has Shrek standing over 3 inches tall, Donkey just shy of the former, and Gingy over 2 inches tall, is comprised of 260 bricks.

Both set collections are currently available for pre-order online and will be available in retail stores and online beginning June 1. While the BrickHeadz sets will run for $24.99 USD, the adult-oriented set comes with a surprising cost of $129.99 USD. LEGO Group Creative Lead Raquel Ojeda and Universal Products & Experiences’ Global Commercial Officer of Consumer Products, Games & Digital, Rafa Macias, wrote about the first-ever Shrek sets in the following statements:

Raquel Ojeda: Shrek has always celebrated imagination, friendship, and a little bit of mischief, which are values that translate perfectly into LEGO play. We’re ogre the moon to partner with this beloved universe and see how fans build their own fairy-tale adventures. This is just the beginning, so keep your eyes peeled for lots more LEGO Shrek magic!

Rafa Macias: Partnering with the LEGO Group to introduce Shrek in LEGO brick form marks an exciting moment as we celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary. These sets bring Far Far Away to life with innovative design, fun Easter eggs for fans to discover, and storytelling — honoring the legacy that has made Shrek a cultural icon and inviting fans back to the swamp where it all began.
