Not Lake District or Yorkshire Dales – UK’s best national park named | Travel News | Travel

The UK’s top national park has been named, using research from Premier Inn. The Peak District topped the chain’s list as the best of the UK’s 15 national parks, beating the likes of the Yorkshire Dales and Dartmoor.

Premier Inn scoured through visitors’ Google reviews as well as Instagram data in a bid to determine the top 10 most popular parks in 2021, with the Lake District and Snowdonia taking second and third place, respectively. The research ranked the national parks according to the number of nearby cafes, parking spaces, average temperature and social media popularity. It secured its spot thanks to 2.3million Instagram hashtags and 363 million TikTok views, as well as 157 cafes and 44 car parks.

The Peak District is renowned for its spectacular landscapes, including ethereal waterfalls, rolling green hills, historic houses, and charming villages with traditional pubs and cosy hotels.

Then there are all the adventures to be had, whether you’re planning to take on a walking trail (there’s something for hikers of all levels), try some wild swimming in the region’s picturesque lakes and ponds, or even try some thrilling watersports.

Families will also find plenty of attractions that cater to a wide range of ages, from Poole’s Cavern, filled with limestone caverns and woodland walks, to the Heights of Abraham cable cars.

History fans won’t be left disappointed either – the region is home to over 2,900 listed buildings and historic castles with highlights including Chatsworth House and Bolsover Castle. There are also plenty of National Trust sites to explore.
