Pedro Pascal isn’t one to wait for opportunities to come his way. The Chilean-born actor is sharing about a proactive move he made earlier this year. February’s Super Bowl halftime show was headlined by Latin sensation Bad Bunny. Pedro was eager to be a part of the event, no matter what it took.
As such, he says that he reached out to the Grammy-winning singer to express his interest. “I wanted to participate in any way – literally a volunteer position, like serving coffee if needed,” admitted Pedro. In the end, he got what he’d hoped for.
The Last of Us actor didn’t know he’d be dancing
Be careful what you wish for. Although Pedro got to take part in the halftime festivities at Levi’s Stadium, it wasn’t exactly how he’d envisioned it. Speaking to the magazine Fantastic Man, he says that he was pulled from his seat in the stadium on the day and taken into the wardrobe. His instructions after being dressed were “OK, so the vibe is: you’re dancing.” Eventually, he realized that “It’s the Casita.”
Looking back on his cameo, Pedro confessed that he wasn’t sure he’d get to be a part of it all. He says that after and putting out feelers about his interest in the show, he didn’t hear anything back. He then sent a follow-up e-mail, sticking out his tongue, assuring them it really was him. That prompted a swift response and within an hour he was invited to be part of the show. His instructions prior to the day of the show were to wear beige.
Pedro’s surprise cameo at the Super Bowl halftime event got fans buzzing. The Last of Us actor was one of four celebrities who appeared alongside Karol G, Cardi B, and Jessica Alba.
This year’s halftime show drew 128.2 million viewers domestically across all platforms. That makes it the fourth-most-watched halftime show in history. Bad Bunny became the first Latino to headline the event.
