DC Officially Unveils New Lobo Redesign Ahead of His Next Appearance

2026 truly feels like the year of Lobo, with the Main Man landing a major role in James Gunn’s upcoming Supergirl movie, while also securing his own ongoing solo comic series. While fans have already seen both the 2026 live-action and comic redesigns of the Main Man, DC has now unveiled a new image of Lobo’s latest look ahead of his next appearance.

DC has been hitting home runs with Main Man this year. From the fan-praised casting of Jason Momoa as Lobo in the Supergirl movie to a new comic series that has earned a “very positive” reception from fans according to the League of Comic Geeks’ star rating system, the character is clearly having a moment. Both the Momoa-inspired and comic designs of Lobo have been widely well-received, and now DC is giving fans yet another redesign to judge.

DC has officially dropped a five-page preview of writer Skottie Young and artists Jorge Corona, Nicoletta Baldari, and Jean-François Beaulieu’s upcoming May 20, 2026, release of Lobo #3. This issue takes a different approach from previous installments by slingshotting readers back to Lobo’s childhood. As a result, DC has revealed a new “kid” design for the character, transforming the Main Man into the Main Kid.

Lobo’s journey as a televised, intergalactic bounty hunter continues in Lobo #3. However, the once-chaotic profession has been “professionalized” after the universe’s premier entertainment corporation took over, meaning Lobo must now complete a psych evaluation with an alien empath in order to be relicensed.

The DC-provided preview pages show Lobo sitting down for his evaluation, where the empath begins probing his past, taking him all the way back to his childhood. One question stands out in particular: can the Main Man describe a moment of joy that doesn’t involve maiming or killing? This prompts Lobo to reluctantly open up, sharing a memory that transports readers back in time to the first glimpse of Kid Lobo.

DC Confirms Batman & Lobo’s New Spinoff Arrives After the Supergirl Movie

June 26, 2026, isn’t the only date that fans should be marking on their calendar when it comes to some can’t-miss Lobo mayhem.

In the flashback, Lobo recalls a fourth-grade field trip to the “Czarnia Czoo.” There, a young Lobo encounters a space dolphin and asks his teacher if he can pet it, only to be refused, leading him to call her an “ol’ hag.” The preview cuts off there, but it still offers a clear look at Lobo as a child, whose design closely mirrors his adult form.

Sporting his signature wild black hair, red eyes, and facial markings, Kid Lobo also wears a biker-inspired outfit featuring black leather pants and a cut-off jean jacket. The younger version is essentially a cleaner, more youthful reflection of the adult Lobo. Fortunately, the full issue is set to focus heavily on Kid Lobo, giving fans plenty more of this version when it releases in full.
