HBO Max Trailer Reveals New Footage from ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Harry Potter,’ & More 2026 Releases

HBO Max has already enjoyed an impressive run of releases in the first half of 2026, keeping Warner Bros. Discovery near the top of the viewing charts on multiple occasions. This started off with The Pitt Season 2 in January, which once again dominated the charts and was quickly renewed for a third season (which will embrace a new time of the year for its setting). A few months later, Euphoria finally came back into the spotlight for Season 3, delivering some of the most controversial moments and imagery in the show’s seven-year run. Now, with seven months still left in 2026, even more exciting programming has yet to be released on the major streaming network.

HBO Max released a brand-new trailer on May 24 highlighting multiple new streaming series set for release later this year. One of the highlights was new footage from DC Studios’ Lanterns series, starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. While most of the footage came from the show’s recently released second trailer, a new shot showed Jordan and Stewart training in a desert together, along with multiple shots of the Lantern ring in action. This series will begin streaming on HBO Max on Aug. 16, 2026.

Additionally, the trailer finished with a few seconds of new material from the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series, the first season of which is titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Featuring voiceover from Anton Lesser’s Garrick Olivander, Dominic McLaughlin’s Harry is seen walking through the halls and Quidditch field at Hogwarts, and a new shot shows him huddling up with the Gryffindor Quidditch team before a match. Another scene shows the moment in which Harry gets his wand from Ollivander in Diagon Alley. The new reboot is being prepped for release on Dec. 25, 2026.

The trailer also used footage from a few series that have already premiered on HBO Max this year, including Euphoria Season 3, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1, and episodes from the already-releasedHacks Season 5. In total, footage was shown from over 20 new projects that have already started streaming or will begin streaming later in the year. Along with fictional stories, multiple documentaries also got their time to shine, including a new Earth, Wind & Fire documentary, the new season of the NFL’s Hard Knocks featuring the Seattle Seahawks, and Conan O’Brien Must Go (a travel show featuring the former late-night host).

While Lanterns and Harry Potter are two of the biggest properties being released in the back half of 2026, other hit shows like WAR, The Gilded Age Season 4, and House of the Dragon Season 3 are still in line to debut in the coming months as well. Also shown in this trailer were Half Man, Stuart Fails the Universe, Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America, Youth, and Monsters of God.
