Ice Cube is heading to Paso Robles this summer for a live set at the California Mid-State Fair on July 16, 2026.
Cube broke the news on Instagram with the short, direct energy fans have come to expect. “Paso Robles, I’m pullin’ up. California Mid-State Fair, July 16. Come see me do what I do,” he posted. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
Paso Robles might be better known as California wine country, but it hosts one of the bigger summer fairs in the state. The Mid-State Fair draws large crowds each year to San Luis Obispo County, and its outdoor concert space is a solid venue for a summer night. The headliner series has featured country, rock, and hip-hop acts, and Ice Cube is a natural fit.
Fair shows have their own energy. The setting is more casual than an arena, and the crowd tends to be a wide mix of ages and backgrounds. That combination tends to bring out the best in performers, and Ice Cube is no exception. He knows how to work a crowd in any setting.
His career spans close to four decades, all of it at a high level. He co-founded N.W.A in the late 1980s out of Compton, California. Their debut, “Straight Outta Compton,” arrived in 1988 and changed the sound and reach of hip-hop almost immediately.
The solo run followed. “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted” dropped in 1990. “Death Certificate” and “The Predator” came in 1991 and 1992. All three are still considered essential, and many critics rank them among the best rap albums of that era.
He also built a serious film career alongside the music. The Friday franchise launched in 1995. Ice Cube co-wrote the original with DJ Pooh and starred alongside Chris Tucker. It became a beloved comedy and led to two sequels. He also appeared in “Barbershop” and “Three Kings” throughout the 2000s.
In 2015, the N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton” put his story in front of a new generation. Cube served as a producer on the film, and his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. played him on screen.
He co-founded the BIG3 in 2017, a professional 3-on-3 basketball league featuring retired NBA players. The league has been running for close to a decade and reflects how many different directions he’s taken his career.
For anyone in the Central Coast area, this is a good summer show to have on the calendar. His live sets draw from a deep catalog. Expect “It Was a Good Day,” “Check Yo Self,” and “Straight Outta Compton” to land somewhere in the night.
Tickets for the July 16 show are on sale now through Ticketmaster. Summer fair shows with names this big tend to sell, so checking availability sooner is the smart move.
