Is ‘Half Man’ Returning for Season 2?

The finale for Half Man, the stunning new drama from Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd, is almost upon us.

Thursday (May 28) night’s Episode 6 brings a thrilling conclusion to the story of Ruben Pallister (Gadd) and Niall Kennedy (Jamie Bell), as the two “brothers from another lover” collide over the devastating revelations that have been made about them … with, it seems, more to come.

The teaser for Half Man‘s finale shows Ruben and Niall back in the wedding barn as the former asks, “You love me, don’t you? Where do you feel it?”

“I feel it everywhere,” Niall confirms. “It sort of runs through me in a way. It’s like dangerous. It is the best and worst thing all at once. It’s the only thing I’ve ever felt.” The imagery that accompanies this answer confirms as much, as we see a jailhouse meeting that seems to go terribly awry between them, among other dreadful flashes.

“So, how long did you wait before you took what’s mine?” Ruben asks at the end of the teaser.

We don’t yet know how this question will be answered or where it will lead, but if the finale is anything like the rest of the series, we’ll surely be left thirsty for more. So, is Half Man a one-and-done or is there more to come? Here’s what we know.

Is Half Man renewed for Season 2?

No, the series has not been renewed for Season 2 by HBO at this time.

Does that mean Half Man won’t come back?

Probably so. Richard Gadd told Radio Times that “at one stage,” he considered making it a multi-season project and that he “did have an idea for it.” However, with Half Man, the ending ahead is conclusive in his mind.

“I think the best way of telling this story was the way that it ended, in the way that it does end in Half Man, and I think that that mattered more than laying the groundwork for a potential future season that may or may not happen,” he told them. “It just suddenly occurred to me, while I was writing it, that it should exist as its own piece of work and not something that can kind of extend and extend.”
