Republican Dennis Quaid Jabs Back at Spencer Pratt’s Mayoral Campaign Inquiry

Actor Dennis Quaid is cheering for mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt. The 72-year-old actor backed Pratt at the 2nd Annual Military & Veteran Entertainment Awards Gala and said, “Go Spencer Pratt.”

Dennis Quaid shows support for Spencer Pratt but offers no reasons why…

The Rookie star showed his support while accepting the 2026 Patriot Ally Award at the event on May 23. When Fox News Digital asked why he was supporting the former reality-TV-star-turned-politician, Quaid expressed, “Why? What are you talking about? Why? Just look around, man.”

The 42-year-old announced his candidacy in January 2026 and is running against Mayor Karen Bass, who has served as the 43rd mayor of Los Angeles since 2022.

Though Quaid gave no reasons for his support for Pratt, he had previously criticized Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over her response to the historic Palisades wildfires, which took place in January 2025. He was among the many people who evacuated from their homes in Los Angeles.

As reported by FOX 11 Los Angeles, Quaid said, “A year and a half ago, the insurance AIG pulled out. That was my insurance company at the time in California, and it became almost impossible to get fire insurance. There are people out there who have just lost everything, and the insurance companies – they’re all about probability. And the worst-case scenarios happen. And because they can happen, the worst-case scenario.”

He added, “Mayor Bass had five days’ warning about what could be record Santa Ana winds, and she chose to go to Ghana anyway. And when she came back, there was that video that went viral of this guy getting off the plane and that reporter. Yes, maybe she was ambushed or whatever, but to just say nothing in that interview? You’ve got to hit the ground running there.”

Quaid continued, “There was no evacuation plan. That makes me wonder about the next earthquake, the next mudslides that are going to happen. I’m really in favor of a recall. I think it’s that important not to wait for the next election.”
