If you are searching for a Wetherspoon that stands apart from the rest, then look no further than a South West pub that offers breathtaking views of the beach and the Celtic Sea.

The establishment is so impressive, it has even been hailed as “probably the best Wetherspoons in the UK”, according to a local tourism guide. Taking to TikTok, Cornish Diaries shared a video of the pub’s beer garden, which sits right beside the sand.

Inside, the ‘Spoons delivers everything you would anticipate from the chain – a vast array of beers, fruit machines and an extensive menu of affordable food in spacious surroundings. So where can you find it?

The Wetherspoon in question is The Bluff Inn, located in the village of Phillack, near Hayle – less than a mile inland from St Ives Bay.

Even on a grey day, Cornish Diaries demonstrated how well-frequented the pub is, with most tables taken both inside and outside.

Wetherspoon adds online: “The Bluff Inn takes its name from its location. The popular inn sits above Bluff Beach, next to the mouth of the Hayle Estuary, where the river flows into St Ives Bay, an area which kiteboarders call The Bluff.

“The path alongside the pub slopes down past the lifeguard station to Bluff Beach, ‘slope’ being the clue to the inn’s name, which is on a bluff, rather than a cliff. Whereas a cliff is a steep, nearly vertical, rock face (with little or no slope), a bluff is more of a steep sloping bank.”

On TripAdvisor, the pub holds a rating of 3.3 out of 5 from more than 1,200 reviews. One recent visitor praised: “Beautiful views looking out over Hayle. It was very busy but the staff were doing an amazing job cleaning tables, interacting with customers.

“Service was good, food arrived in good time and its the first Spoons I have been to the food came out hot. You need to pay to park which is a bit strange considering you’re using the place. Overall I would recommend.”

And a second happy customer enthused: “Went today as first day of summer season [April 2026] and the first day The Bluff opened under the Wetherspoons Umbrella as part of The Haven Riviera Sand Holiday Park.

“It was absolutely packed but had the fish and chips and a wrap, quick service, very friendly service and the same good prices that you expect from Spoons. Absolutely amazing views of St Ives Bay and will be amazing in the summer with their large beer garden overlooking the sea. As a local will definitely returning many times.”

Not all feedback has been positive, however, with some punters bemoaning a “poor service” and the establishment’s no-dogs-inside policy. But for that epic view, surely all is forgiven!

The Bluff Inn welcomes guests seven days a week, opening at 8am and closing at 11pm.
