Disney+ Action Series Unleashes Unstoppable Villain With “Full Metal Rage” In Must-See Fight Scene

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again wrapped up this past May on Disney+, and it ended with a bang. After a two-season long battle of wills with Wilson Fisk (aka the Kingpin, aka the mayor of New York City, played by Vincent D’Onofrio), Daredevil ( Charlie Cox) finally backs the man into a corner. Faced with a mob of angry protesters and loathe to take a deal that would see him resign the mayorship and go into exile, Fisk walls himself up inside a courthouse. And when protesters breach its defenses, he starts killing them.

It’s a bloody, borderline ludicrous scene that taps into the show’s comic book roots. MovieWeb got to speak to Daredevil: Born Again action director Philip J Silvera about choreographing the carnage. According to him, the phrase he and D’Onofrio threw around when talking about the scene was “full metal rage.”

“[T]here was a comic book panel of early Kingpin where he looks like he was striking like a silverback gorilla. So when he got emotional, what we wanted to do is always let him swing with this massive power, and never let him hold back. He’s calm, he’s cool, he’s collected. But when he gets emotional, he lets that rage go, and you see how scary he really is. And I think one of the moments that the world itself, inside of Daredevil, got to see that was when they were trapped with him in the hallway in Episode 8.”

Before that, the public had seen Kingpin box in an exhibition bout in the episode “Gloves Off,” but generally knew him as a politician. Many thought he was corrupt, but few thought him capable of slaughtering hallways full of people with his bare hands. The fight in the courthouse changed all that. Silvera continued:

“As viewers, we know that Fisk is a scary person behind the scenes, [but] the first time the people in that world saw Fisk fight was in the boxing ring. But the people trapped in the hallway with them, they had never seen that or known that publicly about him. So we made it a horror movie, and we let him swing for the fences, and we let his strength come out, and those people that were trapped in there with him pay for it in that moment.”

After his rampage, Kingpin is allowed to go into exile, which is one of the many plotlines left dangling at the end of Season 2. Vincent D’Onofrio has been seen on the set of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, so his story isn’t over. If he returns to New York City, we expect everyone to give him a wide berth.

Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again will air on Disney+ in March 2027. There have been suggestions that Charlie Cox could appear as Matt Murdock/Daredevil before that in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which comes out in theaters on July 31, 2026, but Cox himself has denied them.
