Elsie Hewitt isn’t afraid to open up about the struggles that come with being a mom
New mom Elsie Hewitt gave birth to her and Pete Davidson’s daughter late last year. After five months, the model got real about motherhood in an interview with Parents magazine. She opened up about the struggles that surprised her. According to her, she discovered a “shift in my energy levels.”
Hewitt claimed that she was caught off guard by the way she started operating. “I’m surprised by the fact that no matter how exhausted I am, I’m somehow ready at all times to do whatever this teeny little thing needs me to do,” the 30-year-old said.
Furthermore, Hewitt admitted that she “feels guilty” whenever she is away from her baby. The new mother claimed to be quite spontaneous before Scottie’s birth. However, now, things have become more “premeditated.”
Hewitt highlighted one of the most common postpartum struggles. It seemed to be the pressure to “bounce back” physically and emotionally. “No matter if internal or external, this pressure is very real,” she added. However, she has been trying to take it slow and be compassionate towards herself.
The model also spoke about how fellow moms have been helpful. She noted that her community has made things easier for her. In return, the mother of one also tries to be considerate towards other moms. “Sometimes I’ll make eye contact with another mom pushing a stroller and feel an unspoken, ‘Hey, I see you,” she shared.
Hewitt also mentioned how self-care seemed to be important for dealing with a mother’s physical and mental health after childbirth.
