Jason Statham’s 87% Rated Action Thriller Explodes on Streaming

Jason Statham’s 2025 action thriller is working hard to maintain its place on the streaming charts. After debuting last year, the film, directed by Suicide Squad and Fury‘s David Ayer, is considered one of Statham’s best action movies in recent years. Its plot is nothing to write home about — a former military man who gives it up for a humble life is drawn back into violence to save someone — but Statham delivers big on the action. That helped it to become a decent box office success, but the film has been a sensation since it was added to streaming. Forget The Beekeeper, Wrath of Man, and even the recent Shelter; this is the Statham movie that everyone is watching.

Jason Statham’s hit 2025 action thriller A Working Man is currently streaming on HBO Max, and audiences across the globe cannot get enough of it. After being added to the platform on Jun. 1, A Working Man has become a late-night streaming sensation. The film is the seventh most popular movie on the platform globally this week. Scarlett Johansson’s new My Mother’s Wedding holds the top spot, with They Will Kill You in second and the animated GOAT in third. As well as HBO Max, the film is also streaming on MGM+, where it is the sixth most popular movie this week (through Amazon Channels).

Chuck Dixon, David Ayer, and Sylvester Stallone penned the script for A Working Man, with Ayer directing. As previously mentioned, it’s your usual one-man army action affair. Statham plays Levon Cade, a former elite soldier who quits the army for a job in construction to be closer to his daughter. But when his boss’ daughter is kidnapped, he must use his particular set of skills (whoops, wrong movie) to get her back. Imagine if Taken and Reacher had a baby with Jason Statham thrown in there somewhere, and you get A Working Man.

‘A Working Man’ Is Working Hard for Your Approval

Like many of Jason Statham’s recent action movies, A Working Man faces the usual uphill battle when it comes to critics, but it’s a firm fan favorite. The film received mostly poor reviews, resulting in a 46% Rotten Tomatoes rating. However, the audience scores are nearly double that. With over 2,500 user reviews, A Working Man boasts a far better 87% audience rating on RT.

“Statham being Statham, only the way Statham can be Statham. Some would call it a typical run-of-the-mill film for him, and they’d be right. And that’s exactly why it’s awesome,” wrote one user, while another said, “It’s literally just another one of Statham’s typical movies. But, it’s still good.”

Jason Statham is Reuniting With Guy Ritchie

He may have got his start in crime thrillers, but today, Jason Statham is a bona fide action star. However, for his next film, he’s reuniting with Guy Ritchie for a new crime thriller. But it’s not just any old crime thriller; it’s an unofficial sequel to one of the best British crime thrillers of all time. Viva La Madness is Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham’s follow-up to the seminal Layer Cake, which helped to put Daniel Craig on the map. The film has wrapped production, although a release date hasn’t been revealed.
