By now, Summer House fans have said just about everything there is to say about West Wilson and Amanda Batula. That’s why some viewers were surprised to see West voluntarily revisit the mess in a viral whiteboard video breaking down the scandal beat by beat.
Now, West is opening up about why he agreed to participate in it and how he really felt about putting himself in the hot seat.
Why West Wilson “reluctantly” joined the viral Summer House video
The June 24 clip came from The Broadcast Boys, influencers Lucas Brody and Nelson Vergara, who are known for their whiteboard breakdowns of reality TV drama. In the two-part video, the pair mapped out West’s fallout with Amanda while West sat beside them, listening as they dissected every messy detail.
According to West, signing on for that wasn’t easy. “I, kind of, did it reluctantly,” West said on the June 27 episode of his Show Me Something podcast. “I’ve been doing those for like three years, so we — this sounds so stupid — but we talked forever [before recording].”
West said avoiding the topic never felt realistic because The Broadcast Boys had already covered so many Bravo scandals.
“We’ve made fun of so many people in so many shows that they have to do the Summer House, and I have to take my licks for that one,” he explained.
In other words, he showed up knowing exactly what was coming. “Basically, I just showed up and sat there and let them f*cking roast me,” he said. “We recorded for two hours, and it’s a 25 minute cut or something.”
West also said Amanda knew about the video before it went live. When asked if she was worried, his answer was simple. “Yeah, dude.”
He later connected the experience to his departure from Summer House, saying everyone could use some space. “Everyone can take a breather. It wouldn’t have been a fun summer for, literally, anyone.”
Past seasons of Summer House stream on Peacock.
