Why Katy Perry Canceled Her Belgium Concert

Katy Perry has issued an apology to fans for canceling her concert in Belgium at the last minute. The performance would have marked the Queen of Camp’s first return to Belgium’s Werchter Boutique festival in 17 years. Perry clarified that there was little she could do as Europe is engulfed by an insufferable heatwave at the moment.

Katy Perry canceled her Belgium concert for this reason

Katy Perry was reportedly forced to cancel her performance at the Belgium Werchter Boutique festival due to the massive heatwave currently sweeping through Europe. The singer shared a lengthy note on Instagram, apologizing to fans and revealing that she is equally unhappy.

The 41-year-old wrote: “Sadly my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can’t happen due to a government-mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns. I was backstage at the show in the middle of hair and makeup when this news was delivered, and they gave me no choice.”

Continuing further, Perry wrote: “I am just as unhappy as you are. Unfortunately this is beyond my control, but the safety of all 55,000 of you always comes first and foremost.”

Moreover, the “Roar” hitmaker mentioned in the caption that she was planning to wear the same outfit she wore in 2009. Perry concluded by apologizing once again and asked everybody to be safe.

Perry attached a photo of herself sitting outside the venue smoking a cigarette. She can be seen wearing a white robe, striped pajamas, and headphones. Her outfit, which she intended to wear at her concert in Belgium, rests on a hanger beside her.

In the same carousel, the “Dark Horse” crooner also shared an official statement from the festival itself. The Belgium Werchter Boutique festival announced that it will end after Pitbull’s performance.

For those unversed, Katy Perry was tapped to headline the weekend festival with other performers. This includes Mika, Pommelien Thijs, James Arthur, Roxy Dekker, and Emmy d’Arc. Perry is slated to perform at Cardiff Castle in Wales on June 30 (via Entertainment Weekly).
