Alan Ritchson Announces Major Reacher Season 5 News Ahead Of Season 4 Debut

Reacher season 5 gets an exciting update ahead of season 4’s release.

Alan Ritchson’s Prime Video series has enjoyed immense success ever since it premiered in 2022, despite the lingering shadow of Tom Cruise’s films. Its take on the drifter from Lee Child’s famous novels is now the definitive live-action version of the character, with every season regularly drawing millions of viewers. With that, the excitement and anticipation for Reacher season 4 is only increasing by the day as its premiere date on Prime Video nears.

Child’s Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Persuader have all been adapted on the screen, with each book encompassing an eight-episode season. When Reacher season 4 arrives, it will take on the 14th book in the series — Gone Tomorrow. Plot specifics about the new cycle remain tightly under the lid, which only fuels people’s interest. Going beyond what is coming to the show, however, Ritchson offers exciting fresh news about the future of the budding franchise.

Taking it to his official Instagram account, Ritchson has announced that filming for Reacher season 5 is starting today. No word yet on what book from Child’s novels it will adapt, but it’s an exciting idea that they are already in production for the project even though season 4 hasn’t come out yet. Check out Ritchson’s enthusiastic announcement below:

Earlier in July, Ritchson sat down with ScreenRant and revealed the first details about Reacher season 5, including the fact that the scripts were already written, and they were all ready to start filming. He also added that the second half of 2026 will be all dedicated to the Prime Video series, which means that production for the show will run for the next few months. While it will be a while before Reacher season 5 releases, the fact that it’s already being filmed right now is still great, as it means that Prime Video can slot it whenever they want, especially in light of its franchise expansion.

Because of Reacher‘s format, it’s safe to say that there will be barely any narrative connections between what’s going to happen in season 4 and season 5 outside its main character’s fate. So far, this segmented approach continues to work for the project, so there’s no real motivation to change it right now. That being said, there’s always going to be interest in seeing some of his previous allies beyond Neagley, who has returned in every season of the project thus far.

With Reacher season 5 now in production, expect more details about the series’ future moving forward. Of course, Ritchson and Prime Video will still be very careful not to reveal any spoilers about season 4. However, once the upcoming run of the series wraps up in September, they can start focusing on hyping up its next chapter, including the potential confirmation of the book that it’s going to be based on.
