No need to see what the survey says; we know the game show Family Feud has been a fan favorite since it first debuted on July 12, 1976! It was another one of those famous Mark Goodson productions, with Hogan’s Heroes star Richard Dawson at the helm during the show’s initial run from 1976-85 on ABC. Dawson is most remembered for his signature awkward kisses, which he would give to the female contestants.
The premise of each episode is that two families of five face off to see who can nail the most popular responses to survey topics posed to groups of 100 different people, such as “Name a reason for kneeling.” Half the fun is watching for the awkward answers given under pressure: “To be beheaded!”
