More than three years after retirement from the NFL, Tom Brady is seemingly looking at a drastic career shift. Rumors suggest that the former athlete could consider running for president. The 48-year-old currently serves as a color commentator for Fox Sports. According to the analysis presented by a renowned football pundit, he could soon pivot to politics.
Tom Brady draws attention after being linked to speculations of a possible presidential run
On July 23, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk published a detailed account on Tom Brady in the presidential race. In it, he explained why the NFL legend is likely to run for president in the future.
Florio based his hypothesis on several factors, including the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s courting of wrestling fans of late. A week ago at Fanatics Fest, Brady teased his intentions to join the WWE. He said, “I’ve been waiting for [WWE president] Nick Khan to come up with some storyline for me to get in the mix”.
The veteran sportswriter also highlighted Tom Brady’s past brushings with politics. Florio specifically mentioned Sam Bankman-Fried’s 2024 attempt to nominate the NFL legend as the Republican candidate. The FTX founder had reportedly supported him for president instead of Donald Trump.
“Not long ago, the idea of someone with no experience in politics running for the highest US political office would have been dismissed as lunacy,” wrote Florio. “After eleven years of lunacy come to life, it’s a new path to power.”
He continued, “Why spin your wheels in the House or the Senate when you can leverage fame and notoriety into an instant political base?.” Florio added that Brady “looks good,” is well spoken and “getting richer all the time.” The expert further stated, “He craves competition (and some would say attention), which could make the political arena the perfect spot for the Man in the Arena.”
Tom Brady has yet to share any word on his supposed plans for going on a presidential run.
