Furious Episode 4, “Flash Flood,” reveals that Alice’s (Emmy Rossum) traumatic past is driving her increasingly self-destructive behavior as she and Danny uncover new links between Isabel, Catherine (Lola Petticrew), and murdered trafficker Adrian Murado.
Meanwhile, Catherine kidnaps Easton family lawyer Hal (Campbell Scott) for answers about Isabel’s death, and Alice discovers that Nora (Quincy Tyler Bernstine) and former supervisor Ed George (Danny McCarthy) were involved in the original investigation before Nora abruptly removes her from the case. Warning: Spoilers ahead for Furious Season 1 Episode 5 “Pick a Sticker”!
Catherine gets the evidence she needs, but her body count grows
After kidnapping Jay Easton’s (Peter McRobbie) lawyer Hal for info on Isabel, Catherine takes him home to wheelchair-bound Alden Drummings’ (Steve Way) house, the man/sorta boy toy she’s been caring for while continuing her brutal quest for answers. While there, Alden, whose heart is functioning at only 25%, knows he doesn’t have much time left and asks Catherine to marry him.
She says yes, but also, FYI, there is a man in the van outside who is her uncle detoxing from drugs. She’s going to bring him into the house, so please ignore any sustained screams of pain for the next few hours.
With gentle coercing, Catherine forces Hal to explain what happened the night Isabel died. He reveals that trafficker Adrian Murado called him after Isabel’s death, prompting him to steal Caleb Easton’s car and take teen sex worker Catherine with him. Catherine is convinced Jay Easton murdered her friend, but Hal repeatedly insists that isn’t true. “Don’t you remember?” Clearly, she doesn’t. The interrogation quickly turns into a torture session as Catherine takes a hair curler to him, describing in disturbing detail what it feels like to be strangled, and admits she was in love with Isabel.
Eventually, Hal admits Jay is a monster who deserves to be destroyed and reveals he spent years quietly collecting files, photographs, and other evidence. And it is all on his computer in the other room.
That confession leads Catherine and Alden to Hal’s computer, where they uncover a treasure trove of evidence. Catherine is understandably unimpressed that Hal apparently chose to become an archivist instead of actually stopping any of the abuse. She asks what the punishment should be for people who know children are being abused and simply do nothing. Even then, Hal refuses to budge, insisting once again that Jay Easton did not kill Isabel.

Unfortunately for Hal, that distinction doesn’t earn him a pass. Catherine calmly lets him get back on his feet before driving a syringe into his eye, killing him instantly.
The murder is enough to rattle even Alden, who saw it all. And with Hal dead and another body behind her, Catherine realizes it’s time to run.
Alice spirals, but it is all according to plan
Furious that Nora pulled her off the case, Alice refuses to let it go. While Marshall (Jake Lacy) pressures her to recant her abuse allegations against him so he can secure a promotion, Alice instead tracks down Deputy Carter, who worked the 2012 Jane Doe case with Nora and Ed George.
He reveals Nora was once obsessed with the investigation, particularly the victim’s mysterious hospital bracelet, before abruptly shutting the case down without leaving any notes.
Back at the FBI, Alice continues digging into the bracelet as Ed inserts himself into the investigation and tries to steer attention away from the 2012 case. Alice offers to help Nora, arguing she’s expendable anyway, but Nora refuses, insisting Alice has become too much of a liability because of Marshall’s complaint. But clearly, there is something more she is hiding.
Marshall comes over to Alice’s apartment, where she immediately starts drinking. Whiskey, his drink of choice. The one he used to enjoy before abusing her. He tells her he doesn’t understand why she likes being hurt now, especially after what he did to her, and the two kiss. They start to engage in sex, but it goes sour quickly. As it turns out, the whole thing is a setup and is being recorded. After Marshall leaves her place in a huff, Alice calls her nosy neighbor and asks her to call the police on him.

Back at the FBI, everyone is furious with Marshall, while Nora and Ed worry his actions will only bring more attention to the cold case they are trying to hide. Alice continues investigating on her own, learning that Catherine was reported as the “woman in the picture” after another nurse at Alden’s home called 911. She also digs deeper into Isabel’s pregnancy, suspecting the hospital bracelet may have come from a Safe Surrender baby box, a theory she shares with Nora in secret, knowing there is a reason Nora is keeping her from the case, but just doesn’t know why. Yet.
Meanwhile, Danny and Choi arrive at Alden’s house and discover Hal’s body, and Alden is alive and unharmed, appearing ready to take the blame.
Alice heads to a Safe Surrender location to investigate, and while she is there, as she comes face-to-face with another person in the waiting room: Catherine.
