Brandon Sanderson has just turned The Fires of December into a surprise audiobook event, beginning with a chapter-by-chapter rollout before the book officially arrives. Dragonsteel’s YouTube series features Sanderson introducing and discussing two chapters each week, while Michael Kramer provides the narration. The full ebook and audiobook release is scheduled for October 6, giving readers an early look at Sanderson’s newest standalone fantasy.
The rollout from Brandon Sanderson’s YouTube page also comes with a spoiler warning. Sanderson says Chapter 2 contains information that changes how Chapter 1 should be experienced, although he stresses it is not a massive twist like The Sixth Sense. Dragonsteel has confirmed that a little over 20% of the novel will be released through these previews before October 6, making the advance material unusually substantial for an audiobook launch.
