Chaka Khan, 73, has revealed that she cannot remember how she first met fellow musician and longtime friend Lenny Kravitz. Despite the gap in her memory, Khan continues to value their friendship and the music they have created together.

Khan has caught up with old friend Lenny Kravitz for a number for her newest release, “Chakzilla”. This happens to be Khan’s first album in seven years, following 2019’s “Hello Happiness”.
The singer and Kravitz have collaborated on “Bring the Party,” for the new album. Khan spoke about their friendship at the People headquarters in New York City. She said, “I’ve known Lenny for some time. I was thinking of what guys I would like to have on my CD, on my album, and he came up as one of the top three I’d like to have to be part of the whole thing.”
She described Kravitz as a “wonderful” person and “great guy.” Strangely, she didn’t remember where they first met. “I really, really, honestly don’t,” Khan said. “We’re both very busy, and whenever we get a chance to see each other, we do.”
“Chakzilla” also features two other collaborations. Sia comes in for “Cool You Down” and Snoop Dogg’s verse appears in”Boogie’s in My Soul.”
Snoop is also an old acquaintance of Khan’s, but they don’t spend as much time together as she would have wanted. “We’ve not become as close as we’d like to get,” she explains with a laugh. “What we’re doing for a living here, it’s not conducive to really good friendships. It’s tough.”
He revealed that Sia, too, had a role in defining the sound for the album. “I met Sia, and we started kicking it around, and it just felt right,” she said, revealing how the song naturally evolved in the studio. Coming after a seven-year gap, Khan is excited to see how the fans react to the album. “I hope they take away what they need,” Khan noted.
