Dakota Johnson’s Red-Hot Valentino Dress Gets the Biggest Cutout for Vogue

Dakota Johnson is turning heads once again in Vogue’s October 2026 issue. For the cover story, she posed in a striking red cutout dress by Valentino. Photographer Larissa Hofmann captured the actress and producer in the bold piece. During the shoot, Johnson opened up about her career, production company, and desire to embrace a more grounded life.

Dakota Johnson sizzles in fiery red Valentino dress with massive back cutout for Vogue

Dakota Johnson wore Valentino’s Cady Couture Long Dress, priced at $12,800. Crafted entirely from silk, the vibrant scarlet gown featured a high draped neckline from the front before revealing its dramatic design at the back.

A massive V-shaped cutout extended almost to the waist, while padded shoulders and a fluid silhouette provided an elegant finish. Set against a vivid blue backdrop, the fiery dress created a striking contrast throughout the editorial.

The Valentino look was styled by renowned fashion editor Tonne Goodman for the magazine’s October issue. Johnson completed the minimalist ensemble by wearing her dark brown hair loose with soft layers and signature bangs framing her face. Meanwhile, her beauty look remained understated with naturally defined brows, luminous skin, subtle eye makeup, and a satin-finish pink lip that complemented the sophisticated styling.

The editorial accompanies Johnson’s interview with Vogue, where she discussed starring in and producing her upcoming film, “Three Incestuous Sisters,” inspired by Audrey Niffenegger’s illustrated novel.

She also reflected on building her production company, TeaTime, alongside friend and former Netflix executive Ro Donnelly. Describing the creative environment they have built, Johnson called it a “womb-like” and protective space for artists.

The Vogue feature arrives ahead of her appearance at Vogue World: Milan, offering both a closer look at her evolving career and another standout fashion moment. Her dramatic Valentino dress perfectly captures the timeless yet modern aesthetic that defines the editorial.
