Lizzo opened up about facing a “full-blown” panic attack amid her 2023 lawsuit. The rapper faced mental health issues as she faced accusations of workplace harassment. She described the experience as one of the most difficult moments during the legal battle.
Lizzo recently shared her experience having a panic attack after 2023 lawsuit
Lizzo revealed her mental health struggle following her 2023 lawsuit in the latest episode of the Angie Martinez IRL podcast. She recalled driving at sunset when she experienced chills through her spine. Her fingers went numb, and she was barely holding the wheel. She “somehow veered off of the freeway.”
When Lizzo went to the doctor, she learned that what she experienced was a panic attack. She recalled the doctor saying, “Oh, this is panic. You’re having a full-on panic attack.”
Lizzo added, “It’s trauma trapped in the base of your spine. And that trauma can be triggered by anything because it’s down here. It don’t need a thought to be triggered. It’s just a sensation, a feeling, a familiar thing…We’re not okay.”
Lizzo shared that the trauma was triggered after her former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez sued the singer over workplace harassment. Her wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels also filed a separate lawsuit, which was dismissed last month.
Lizzo said, “It wasn’t even about the lawsuit. It was how it was being received by everyone… this was just a very public attack on the fiber of my being, everything that I represent.”
According to Complex, Lizzo appeared on the Today show in June, where she shared her anticipation of the truth and her decision to not settle her lawsuits.
She said at that time, “I’m not afraid to fight. I’m really excited for all the claims to be dropped and for us all to just move forward.” Despite the mental health struggles, Lizzo said she remained determined to see the legal battle through.
