Meghan Markle reportedly wants nondisclosure agreements in place before certain private dinner gatherings
Sources told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice that Markle is trying to make private dinners watertight after the Martha Stewart faux pas. Consequently, Markle wants all private dinner guests to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before they come to dinner.
The tension started when Stewart and Markle met in California. The meeting shortly followed Markle’s Europe trip. Stewart reported that Meghan had been talking about the trip. The dinner’s host has refuted the claim, saying that it was “simply untrue”. They also asserted that Meghan had only said that her family “had a great time” in Europe.
Reportedly, this breach of privacy has prompted Markle to make the bold decision to legally protect her and her family through NDAs.
“Meghan is deadly serious,” a source said. “If there’s any chance private or royal matters will be discussed, she wants an NDA in place before she even says yes. No signature, no Meghan.”
“Meghan’s position is simple: what happens around her dinner table stays there,” said the source. “She’s not taking chances anymore.”
This Hollywood-style policy may not go down well with friends in the U.K., where the Sussexes are reconstructing their lives. “This might be normal around Hollywood celebrities, but asking British friends to sign legal paperwork before dinner is going to raise eyebrows,” an insider tells Naughty But Nice. “People want a glass of wine and a laugh — not a contract.”
Guests aside, would this dinner rule go down well with Prince Harry himself? “Harry needs old friends around him. Start handing those friends NDAs before dinner and they will decide to eat somewhere else,” the source quipped.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children have moved back to the U.K. Their homecoming comes after six years in California, after they stepped away from royal duties in 2020.
