Prime Video is currently being dominated by great action movies and shows, and Dave Bautista’s latest is now climbing up the streaming charts. Reacher just dropped its fourth season and is completely taking over on streaming. But Alan Ritchson isn’t the only action hero finding success on Prime Video. He-Man is making a comeback, with Masters of the Universe finding a new fan base on the platform, while Jason Statham’s A Working Man has been a global streaming sensation for weeks. But former WWE superstar turned actor and MCU vet Dave Bautista is winning big on Prime Video.

Prime Video’s latest weekly streaming chart just dropped, and The Wrecking Crew is holding its own against some of the biggest movies of the year. The brand-new R-rated drama, The Last Sunrise, currently holds the top spot. But The Wrecking Crew has cracked Prime Video’s global top 10 movies chart, currently sitting in ninth place. Also in the top 10 are the aforementioned Masters of the Universe and A Working Man, as well as Project Hail Mary, The Devil’s Mouth, and The Sheep Detectives. The Wrecking Crew debuted on Prime Video in January and quickly found streaming success. But it faded into obscurity on the streamer just as fast. However, likely thanks to the success of action hits like Reacher Season 4, The Wrecking Crew is back in business.

‘The Wrecking Crew’ Is an Entertaining, but Forgettable Action Hit

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, The Wrecking Crew stars Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa as the estranged Hale Brothers, James and Jonny. After their father’s suspicious death, the pair reunite to get to the bottom of the mystery. But it pulls them deep into a web of lies and face-to-face with a very dangerous foe. It’s a twisting, action-heavy movie filled with big explosions and bigger laughs… and that’s all you really need.

The plot is paper thin, but the film is carried by its two leads and a supporting cast that includes Morena Baccarin, Jacob Batalon, Temuera Morrison, and Lydia Peckham. The film entertained critics enough to earn a 74% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Some audiences felt stunted by the weak script, but most still enjoyed the film, giving it a 66% user rating on RT.

The Wrecking Crew isn’t just a formulaic action comedy, it’s a formulaic action comedy which optemistically leaves its ending open enough for a sequel. However, seven months after its debut, The Wrecking Crew 2 hasn’t officially been announced. But it’s not all bad news. The sequel hasn’t officially been greenlit, but writer Jonathan Tropper reportedly already has a story planned. All it needs now is Amazon MGM Studios to front the cash.
